Background
SIGLEC-15 is a member of the SIGLEC family that binds sialylated glycoproteins. It is expressed on a subset of myeloid cells normally but is broadly upregulated on human cancer cells and tumor-infiltrating myeloid cells. SIGLEC-15 is suggested to be involved in the regulation of bone resorption and in osteoclast development. It has also been suggested to be involved in microbial infection and the cancer microenvironment. [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 284266)].
